How to use a digital planner in GoodNotes

How to import a hyperlinked PDF planner into GoodNotes on iPad, navigate with the tabs and links, and write in it.

1. Get the PDF onto your iPad

After purchase, open the planner PDF from your Etsy purchase on your iPad (in Safari or the Files app). Save it to Files or iCloud Drive so you can find it again.

2. Import it into GoodNotes

Open GoodNotes, tap New → Import, and choose the PDF. Alternatively, open the PDF in Files, tap the share icon and pick GoodNotes. Import it as a new document.

3. Use the hyperlinks

Hyperlinked planners have clickable tabs and buttons that jump between sections. In GoodNotes, links work in read-only mode (the pen icon at the top toggles editing). Switch to read-only to navigate, then switch back to write.

4. Write, highlight and add stickers

Use the pen and highlighter tools to fill in pages. You can add digital stickers or images with the image tool, and use the lasso tool to move or resize them.

5. Keep a clean master copy

Before you start writing, duplicate the document (long-press it in the library and choose Duplicate). If you ever want a fresh start, you still have a blank version.

6. Other apps

The same PDF also works in other PDF note apps such as Notability or Xodo, and on Android tablets with a PDF annotation app. Link behavior can differ slightly between apps.
